Tuesday Travelogue-November 3rd
Welcome to the ongoing weekly series called Tuesday Travelogue. We are in our sixty-seventh week! Each week, some ActiveRain bloggers are spotlighted to take us somewhere we may not have been on some kind of virtual travel (and it doesn't cost a dime!). Here is the purpose:
to enjoy the ride"
"take a trip without even leaving the farm"
"expand your horizons"
"see through someone else's eyes"
and hopefully much more!
Today we are visiting West Virginia, my dad's home state in our travels across America alphabetically.
I know we just left a candy-filled holiday behind, but I have to show you some delectable delights for Easter at The Greenbrier in Lewisburg, WV.
The Greenbrier is world-famous and Rebecca Gaujot does it justice in this delicious piece about another "sweet holiday". These were all created there!
The West Virginia Panhandle is described by a long ago blogger for ActiveRain, Debbie Small. (2007)
I appreciated her lovely description from the history to the current economy and even told us about their motto, Montani Semper Liberi "Mountainmen Are Free". Check it out and learn something about this area.
Harpers Ferry WV is our next stop. Patricia Kennedy whisks us off for a weekend drive through West Virginia. Gorgeous travel post! This is the West Virginia I remember from my college years at West Virginia University. I recall my forestry professor mentioning Harpers Ferry. I recall him saying a couple of things, about the elevation? or how small it was? or how great the fall season was? (Heck that was 37 years ago, sorry that I can't remember what he said!)Anyway, it's beautiful, let Pat show you!
It might be a bit early to think about Christmas, but it's always a good time to find great theater no matter the season! Out-of-staters, Liz and Bill Spear took us to a night at the theater in Elkins, West Virginia! (American Mountain Theater that is...)
Please don't forget to comment on these blogposts and I hope that you enjoyed all of these virtual travels. Feel free to join our group:
