Thanks to UNT for the gate-share! Join Explorium Denton fora great night under the stars. Tickets are $5 cash at the gate. It’ll be a great night for stargazing, music, food, and prizes! This is a Family-friendly (or date night!) fall fundraising event. Raffle tickets and food may be purchased using either cash or card. Seating is available or you may bring a camping chair or picnic blanket. The property is very dark to maximize viewing of the sky. Gate opens at 5:30. Parking is free but limited- consider carpooling!

The DFW Affiliate of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network is hosting its annual PurpleStride 5K Run/Walk on Sunday, Nov 8, 2015 at 8AM with special emcee Ginger Allen, Senior Investigative Reporter of the CBS 11 Investigative Team. The walk through the heart of downtown Dallas begins and ends at Klyde Warren Park and will bring awareness to the fourth leading cause of cancer death in the United States.

Veterans Day Celebration 

The Town of Flower Mound will honor local veterans in a special Veterans Day ceremony and family picnic on Sunday, November 8 at Flower Mound High School’s football stadium. The picnic will take place from 1 to 2 p.m.; free hot dogs, cake, and lemonade will be provided. The ceremony begins at 2 p.m., and will include a Veterans Review, where approximately 200 local Boy Scouts, Girls Scouts and ROTC units parade before the Veterans in uniform.

Veterans Day Relay Run After-Party 

On November 11, the Town will hold its annual Veterans Day Relay Run where veterans and their family members will follow a course throughout Flower Mound carrying the American flag. After the event, the public is invited to attend a special post-run celebration from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Community Activity Center (CAC), 1200 Gerault Rd. Refreshments will be served and Veterans Day Relay Run commemorative T-shirts will be available for $20. All proceeds from the T-shirt sales will go to the Denton County Veterans Coalition non-profit organization.

Lone Star Christmas 

The Gaylord Texan Resort brings the magic of a winter wonderland indoors with its annual ICE! exhibit, featuring more than 2 million pounds of ice hand carved by a team of Chinese artisans. You’ll pile on a heavy parka (provided, but bring a pair of gloves) and stroll through a maze of themed ice sculptures throughout a 14,000-square-foot exhibit hall kept at a numbing 9 degrees. Think 2 million pounds of ice carved, by more than 40 ice sculptors, into symbols of Christmas and well-known, holiday animated characters. There are also huge ice slides to ride down. ICE! also boasts one-and-a-half million twinkling lights, 12,000 ornaments, a 52-foot-tall rotating Christmas tree, and a life-sized gingerbread house. The temperature inside the exhibit is a chilly 9 degrees so make sure everyone is dressed warmly.

The 2015 Helping Hands Festival of Trees will begin November 13 and 14 at 10 am sharp with a bevy of Christmas shoppers flooding the Hilton Dallas/Rockwall Lakefront hotel to kick-off their holiday shopping with touring and purchasing the amazing Christmas trees and wreaths. It is a magical, festive event as the community comes together once again in the spirit of this wonderful holiday season for a common cause -- the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the less fortunate of our community. 

The annual event benefits Rockwall County Helping Hands - a non-profit agency that helps keep families in crisis in their homes with the utilities on and nutritious food on their tables, and its Health Center offers basic affordable medical care.

What do deer, elk, pronghorn, moose, bison and bighorn sheep have in common? They're all ungulates, or animals with hooves. Come learn about this amazing group of animals, which can be found all across North America. We'll learn about the Whitetail deer's white tail, the pronghorn's remarkable running and why some ungulates have horns. By the time you're done, you'll be a deer expert!

Plano Community Band Fall Performance 

The Plano Community Band is a volunteer organization made up of approximately 70 musicians from all walks of life who share a passion for music. The band performs a Spring concert and a Fall concert each year at the beautiful Eisemann Center in Richardson, but is best known for its Summer concerts at Haggard Park, abutting old downtown Plano. The Summer Series begins the first Monday in June, and performances at the park continue every other Monday evening for a total of five concerts. The band has themes for each concert including kids’ night, big band and a patriotic concert. The band also performs at the Plano Senior Center and the Plano Christmas Tree Lighting in Haggard Park.

Christmas in the Square draws over than 665,000 visitors annually. Families, friends and holiday guests from throughout North Texas, the DFW Metroplex and southern Oklahoma came and enjoyed the spectacular show. Lights! Music! Snow! Holiday lights and music (available on 107.3 FM) choreographed by Frisco's own Jeff Trykoski (Illumimax LLC). With over 175,000 lights, 11.5 miles of wiring and 8 miles of extension cords. 

 

Christmas in the Square is unlike anything you have ever seen. The same snow machines used by Disney create a "Winter  Wonderland" on the sidewalks of Frisco Square, Texas. Experience on Fridays and Saturdays.
