One more reason why I love Active Rain

Services for Real Estate Pros with Marte Cliff Copywriting

I guess I've known this all along, but it just really hit me today.

When I get the Daily Drop and it offers links to posts, I know that when I click I really will go to that post -hearts and the post really will offer information, insight, or even fun.

I think this is called honesty, and it is in complete contrast to the majority of links that come to my in-box each day. They promise information - then when you get there you either need to click again to get it, or it's only an advertisement for a seminar, book, etc.

Or... really disgusting for someone like me who is on satellite internet... you click on a post that offers "Ten ways to..." and find that you have to click to ten different pages to see those ten ways. No thanks - If the promise is compelling I might wait the one minute it takes to open one page, but I'm not waiting ten minutes to see ten pages that may or may not be interesting.

Actually, unless it's on Active Rain, I've quit clicking any links that offer six ways or ten methods or twelve cities, etc.

I've also quit following any links to health-related information. It won't be there - all I'll find is a long page telling me why I need the information and should spend $X to get it.

So - I love you Active Rain - and I love the bloggers who share their advice, their knowledge, their insight, their fun, and the events in their lives.

Lol!  You make good points.  Thankfully it seems that websites are starting to go more towards the realm of user experience rather than Google juice, so it's getting easier and more fun to surf the internet.  This sentiment is exactly why I decided that rather than take a visitor from one of my website main pages to a blog page referencing listings for sale and then finally to the listings themselves (which would help deepen the SEO value of the website), I'd rather give the viewer the link to the listings they want to see directly from the main webpage without the intermediary step.

Marte, AMEN! I don't get to indulge in it often enough though...(Daily Drop). But, when I DO it is always rewarding.

Wonderful that this one got a star! (and thanks goes to Pat Kennedy for showcasing it, too).

Marie Bumback I agree that the easier it is to use your site, the longer visitors will want to stay.

Gayle Rich-Boxman Fishhawk Lake Realtor (503)755-2905 During really busy weeks I keep the Daily Drop in my in-box and return to it when there's time for a break.

Marte Cliff Great post about AR and working links. I think you have one of those others in comment @48. You might want to delete it. Since it is anonymous, we cannot report it.

Margaret Rome, Baltimore Maryland Thank you! I've been trying to report that one both here and where I've found it on other posts. I couldn't figure out why I always got an error message. How can they be anonymous when there's a name attached? (You know me, not very techie!)

I know exactly what you mean. If I click on something and the info is not right there, I abandon my search. I'm not delving that deep.

Thanks Margaret Rome, Baltimore Maryland I see it's finally gone now. I wish I could remember where else I came across that comment - it's on at least a couple of other posts.

Jill Sackler I'm with you - if you can't deliver what you promise, I'm gone. The ones that really annoy me, even though I don't "bite" on them any more, are the email headlines that shout something along the lines of "Three foods you should never eat!" If you click you'll get a long, long page telling you that those foods are going to kill you - and you can find out what they are by subscribing to some newsletter or paying $39.95 for a special report.

Marte- you know you're absolutely right and I'd not really thought of that before.  I'm tired of clicking on links that direct me to who knows where and spending my time clicking and still not finding what I was looking for. Glad Patricia Kennedy put this in her weekly post.

Kathy Streib It happened to me again today. I have a client who is trying to think of a team name that isn't his name but rather would encompass the whole team. So, I tried to Google it. One of the links I clicked on took me to a page with no information, but a list of almost the same links that Google had offered.

DeeDee Riley Active Rain links really are the best!

Donna Foerster This is really the only social media site I use. I stop by Facebook every couple of weeks and sometimes I remind myself to post something on LinkedIn, but I don't enjoy either of those places.
