Snoqualmie Falls is Washington's largest waterfall and it really demonstrates the beauty of Mother Nature. Snoqualmie Falls got its name from the Snoqualmie Tribe that used the river to transport good and trade with other communities. The falls have contributed to the area in so many ways and the area has been a tourist destination since the late 1800s. Sitting a top of Snoqualmie Falls, in the upper left of the image, is the Salish Lodge which is noted for being a quality lodge and spa. It is unique in design and location because it sits right at the edge of the bluff. It gives people an unprecedented view of the water flowing over the falls and of the river bed below.
At the beginning of the trail head there is a gazebo for easy viewing of Snoqualmie Falls and where unsuspecting tourists get a large dose of waster wash. The heavy mist feels so refreshing and cools a person down in the summer heat that it is so hard to continue on the trail down to the base. The trail is no more than a half a mile downhill and easily traversed in decent walking shoes. Once to the bottom, the more adventurous people can climb over the railing (it has been done so many times the wood is sanded smooth and is a little slippery) and walk along the river bed.
The image below is me, and yes that is the double bicep, and the base of Snoqualmie Falls on April 4, 2006. It was my first time there and many of my friends couldn't believe that I had never been there before. If you are in the state on vacation or a long time resident take a weekend and go visit Snoqualmie Falls, you'll be happy you did.
