While I was poking around over at REIclub.com, checking out some of the free articles and audios, I came across an absolutely dynamite article about hiring contractors. This is particularly of interest for investors who flip, rehab or will eventually need to hire a contractor.
How many of us know what a joy it is to work with a good contractor? And vice-a-versa, how many know what a nightmare it can be to work with a bad one.
I like his statement that he hires "trades people" -- these are not just folks who work out of the back of their pick-em-up truck but have no integrity. Sometimes, those people do have integrity, but it's very rare!
No, what David Lindahl recommends is that one hire trades people with a commitment to their profession. But, I don't need to steal his thunder. Here is a link to his article, "How to Prevent Yourself from Getting ... " ( think we're supposed to fill in the blank with words like "screwed, bamboozled, hoodwinked, taken to the cleaners", etc.
This is just one of MANY resources available from the REICLUB.com website. And it's just one of the many reasons to attend your local REIA group meetings, like mine which is the Two Rivers REIA of Central Iowa.
Enjoy!
