I'm Stephanie Kresl and I'm a Marketing Specialist and Realtor® for Tony Marino's team at Real Living Real Estate Solutions. I'm new here on ActiveRain and new to blogging...I hear it's a lot of fun and I can clearly see that there's a lot to learn. I'm looking forward to making some positive contributions of my own.
A little about me: I'm married to an amazing husband and I'm a mother of four beautiful children, ages three, five, eleven and fifteen. I work at least 40 hours every week; 3 days in the office, open houses every Saturday & Sunday (except Super Bowl Sunday and Easter weekend) and also provide virtual marketing assistance as well. I absolutely love marketing, this ever-changing real estate industry and I have a passion for empowering women. Also, I love a good challenge...so I think I got my work cut out for me!
So, my helpful hints for the day come from today's Daily Purpose Driven Devotional. (If you've never read this book before, my new friends, well I would highly recommend it...especially in the market we're in! I've read the book twice, co-facilitated a group of 25, and I'm currently reading the book again...its life-changing!) The devotional give's some biblical insight as to the three things (presumption, impatience and pride) that keep us from actually hearing what others are saying and some practical advice that we can use a little reminding of from time to time. Here's what it suggests:
• Listen with your eyes - Research suggests that about 80 percent of communication is non-verbal. Our facial expressions and body language tend to tell the real story.
• Listen with your heart - Be sympathetic. Tune in to the emotions behind the words.
• Make time to listen to the people around you - You show people how much you value them when you take time to listen. Imagine how your home or where you work might be transformed if you make an effort to be "quick to listen."
(I'd encourage you to read the entire article: http://www.purposedrivenlife.com/en-US/FreeTools/devotional/todaysDevo/Devotional.htm?a=2599&z=1
It's interesting when you think of this in terms of how we deal with people every day in our business and when it all comes down to it, if we're not taking the time to listen with more than our ears...we're not going to be able to get to the truth of the matter...whatever that may be.
I hope you enjoy my post (and the devotional) and I look forward to hearing your comments.
