Mary Anderson
Thanks for stopping by and taking time out of your day to read my post. My intent is to put a smile on your face. I hope that you will go away with some information you may have forgotten about or did not know. Now sit back and enjoy the post for the day.
Mary Anderson is such a common name so you may ask yourself why I chose to write about her today. Well sit back for the rest of the story.
Mary Anderson was born in Greene County, Alabama back in 1866. You will like this she was an American real estate developer, rancher and inventor. As the story goes she on a visit to New York City in 1902 and was riding in a trolley car on a frosty day. That got her to thinking and when she returned to Alabama she got with a designer and will forever her name will be written in the history books.
You may ask what she did that gained her notoriety. Well thank you for asking, if you hadn’t I couldn’t continue… anyway in 1903 she applied and was granted a 17-year patent for a windshield wiper. While other wipers were made earlier, hers was the first to be effective. Thus her invention and name will forever be written in the history books.
