Realman's 5 Years of Thankfulness
Thank you to Dan Stewart, Happy Grasshopper for this contest that makes us reflect on what we are thankful for in our business.
1st and foremost I am thankful for the support of my family. While a middle aged man bumbled through learning a new trade they were there supporting me. As the primary bread winner of the family took a commission job with no safety net they supported me. Although we went though some very lean times with no savings and most everything had to be purchased at rummage sales and thrift stores they supported me.
2nd I'd like to thank my buyers and sellers. They have been a wealth of referrals and so generous with their compliments and praise.
3rd I'd like to thank my two previous Brokers. Gary Weydahl who has now gone to be with the Lord taught me a lot about patience and working with difficult people and not being a difficult person. Earl Allan who is now 96 years old taught me you can stick to your guns and even people who don't like your views will still respect you as long as you remain consistent.
4th, I am thankful for the MLS. I remember the black and white listing books (prior to my entering the business). Our provider, Paragon, may not be the fanciest and must up to date but it's good to work with and the people that support the system are excellent.
5th, I am thankful for technology in general whether it be blogging, free Internet advertising, smart phones, or even energy efficient automobiles that are now saving a big chunk of my paycheck that used to be spent on gas.
This really just scratches the surface of what I'm thankful for over the last 5 years but again I thank Dan Stewart for the opportunity to reflect on these things.
