Hummingbird Spotted!

I saw my first hummingbird of the season a few minutes ago! I had read in the paper about a month ago where the first one was sighted in this area, and at that time I got my feeders out. I intended to put them up, but it seemed like I always had to do something ahead of that, and so they sat on the kitchen table for weeks, just waiting! Well, finally I set them out yesterday, and behold, this evening a hummer is feeding!

Yea they are starting to show up. I put a feeder out by my bottlebrush trees and they swarm all over it.

I live in Northern Minnesota and we still have 2 feet of Ice on our Lake we live on Big Sandy Lake in McGregor Minnesota. I have seen an assortment of birds and waterfowl show up but not the Hummingbirds as of yet as soon as I know the threat of frost is gone I will put out my Orioles and Hummingbird feeders and get a jump on them they are so Awesome. I have a real bright red shirt with a floral pattern on it and I get buzzed all the time when we are entertaining in the Summers it is fun to watch them.

I am in Maryland and just waiting and waiting. I can not wait to see them. They are my favorite!

You got a terrific picture! It's a sure sign of spring when the hummingbirds come out.

Lola, I wish I could claim credit for that photo. It's free from a stock photo site. But someday soon I hope to get a long lens to add to my Canon Eos Digital Rebel xTi (which I love, by the way!), and then I can really get good shots (I see a bluebird every day from my kitchen window in and around the birdhouse I set up last fall, and I really want to get a photo of him!)

While you are rejoicing in the Spring, I am having a contest on my blog for when we will hit triple digit temps. You guessed it, I am from Arizona. Looks like I might have to come your way for a little relief.
