Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota (April 21, 2008) Twin Cities real estate brokerages with EXIT Realty have brought the innovative idea of foreclosure home tours to our local market with their first Foreclosure Power Tour over a month ago. On Sunday, April 27th they will super charge their Foreclosure Power Tour by bringing the Exit Mega Tour, which will host 5 Foreclosure Power Tours in 5 separate cities.
With 23% of the homes on the market in the Twin Cities being distressed properties (either foreclosures or short sales) and being a hot topic in the real estate and mortgage industry (not to mention among media outlets), there is an over abundance of fear and misinformation regarding the process. The Foreclosure Power Tour lifted the vale on foreclosed homes and allowed us to see the possibilities, says first-time homebuyer Kimberly Stegmeir a participant of the April 5th tour.
Several broker/owners of EXIT Realty of Minnesota, have partnered to educate tour attendees about rebuilding our neighborhoods through purchasing homes in this rapidly changing market. Knowledge is power and is the center point of this hands on experience We haven't been hit as hard as areas like Las Vegas or Detroit, but unfortunately foreclosure is still a reality of todays local housing market, said Kimberly Koehler, a Minnesota Exit Realty broker. However, the increase in foreclosures creates opportunities of affordable housing for some who might not otherwise be able to fulfill the dream of homeownership. By taking the time to educate buyers and sellers on their options we enable them to make informed and educated decisions.
With such a positive impact with our past tours it only makes sense to offer several tours at one time in various cities says Koehler. The Exit Mega Tour will visit foreclosed homes in Eden Prairie, Minnetonka, Big Lake, Monticello, Maple Grove and vacant homes in the Daytons Bluff neighborhoods.
The PowerTour is focused on providing a fun, hands-on educational experience. The foreclosure tours will visit 7 to 10 properties in each area. Prior to visiting these properties there is an education session on purchasing foreclosures and short sales.
