I love the month of November and the reflection of blessings.  There are so many reasons to be thankful! On the top of my list is a job that I enjoy waking up and doing every single day.

Here are FIVE things that I’m most thankful for that impacts my business on a daily basis:

1. Good coffee shops.

Coffee shops like Starbucks or even the local one on the corner is a place for networking.  You get to know the barista who makes your latte every morning or your fellow neighbors who patronize the shop frequently.  You know them by name.  In turn, they know you.  Even better, they know what you do.  Who doesn’t want to be known as the “local real estate expert” in one of your favorite spots?

These places are not only perfect for networking but for meeting your clients. I love spending time with a client over a good cup of joe and asking them the description of their dream house.  Win-win.

2. A good car-wash business.

Everybody loves to climb into a clean, detailed, fresh-smelling vehicle.  It gives a detailed and organized presentation to your clients as to who you are as a professional.  With as many people that come in and out of your car to look at homes, any good agent knows to invest in a great business that will keep your car looking polished.

3. A endless supply of pens.

Even in the day in age of electronic devices, real estate agents will always have something to sign or a note to jot down.  A stash of pens in the glove box, purse, office drawer, and kitchen cabinet will always come in handy for your next handwritten thank you note from your last sale.

4. Morning walks with my dog.

This may sound a little different than the other reasons that impact my job but when I get up early in the morning to walk my dog, I see my neighbors walking to the end of their driveway to get their newspaper or enjoying a cup of coffee from their front porch.  I offer a friendly wave and hello.  This establishes a sense of community and gives me a fresh perspective of my day.  It pushes me to make connections and to genuinely invest in these connections.

5.  Other real estate professionals.

That’s right.  We were all new to this industry at some point.  We had to learn the tools and tricks of the trade by somebody who walked the path before us.   Most of us were mentored by a more seasoned professional who gave us the confidence to move forward in this sometimes volatile industry.  This pushed us to become better at what we do now. These types of relationships remain a cornerstone in our networking practices and as we continue to evolve our business.
