Redneck DishwasherIn REALTOR land it always amazes me the diversity of backgrounds I find out there. But eventually despite whatever background someone starts in real estate they all learn the ropes of listing, working with buyers, using the MLS, even some blogging. People tend to trend toward the mainstream. Except those weird birds. Those who are so in tune with themselves that they march to the beat of a different drummer.

MY HEROES HAVE ALWAYS BEEN NONCONFORMISTS

I think I just relate better to them. Despite an incredibly strong technology background I don't leap at every new gizmo or savvy techie idea just because it is new. In one sense I can be an early adopter like a wireless mouse but in other areas I see that "new" is not necessarily "better."

Besides nonconformists being naturally stubborn, they see things in the world in completely different ways than the mainstream. I like that. I think they are the dreamers. The ones that get us to land on the moon.

We all need each other. But those who are themselves motivate and inspire me to remind everyone else that being yourself just might be the coolest YOU out there!

PROUD TO DO IT THIS WAY

Hi  Gary...I have to admit I have never climbed into a dishwasher to lick a plate.

I also have to admit to licking plates before they ever got there!

Kathleen

P.S.  I don't know what I am except I think I use too many contractions.

How did that dog fit in there? lol.  The world would be pretty boring if everyone was the same.  As far as technology goes, I have to agree with you:  newer is not always better!

Gary - Speaking of backgrounds, I was commenting to someone earlier that I am more of a nonconformist than even I realized.  I don't have any plans of customizing my blog, and I see that you are also resisting, or perhaps you haven't gotten around to it yet.  Have a great week!

Gary - Don't you think that all those "rare birds" makes our life more interesting and colorful?... The doggy in your refrigerator could be... me! LOL

You made me smile... thank you.

Gary - I love the pic!!!  My husband and I are completely different which makes it very interesting when it comes to raising our son.  My husband got upset the other day for something my son did (can't remember now - must not have been big) but he blurts out, "He just doesn't play by the rules - he doesn't think the rules apply to him!"  I got a HUGE smile on my face and pointed to myself - "And, where do you think he got that?"  My husband has always said that I march to a different drummer than the rest in the world - I think I will now call myself a "non-conformist"!

Hi Gary,
Like Leesa, I love that photo.  How in the world did that dog get in the dishwasher?
I'm ME and I can't be anyone else and that's how it is supposed to be.

To thine own self be true." I learned that one many years ago in high school and have stuck to it ever since.

Ok - once it is in the dishwasher it is off limits at my house, but hey, that might not suit everybody! Great post!

Dog pic is too cute!  I agree with the tech angle---I am all for efficiency, but with the plethora of gizmos out there, I like to let others test some things out first before I commit!

Great post and point.  And of course the photo is very cute!  My daughter was very sad at my answer when she asked how old I was when I got my first cell phone (she wants one really bad at 10).  I said, "Hmm... I think I was about 35.  Grandma made me get it when I started working for her."  lol

Gary, thanks for this walk down memory lane.  This song has always been my theme song and growing up Italian/American in South Philadelphia, the radio was always on Fridays with Frank and Sundays with Sinatra.  When I was 16, by then boyfriend surprised me with 3rd row seats to see Frank Sinatra at the Spectrum with Count Basie and Ella Fiztgerald.  I remember shaking when Frank came out, I was so excited.  And I was so close you could see the blue of his eyes!  I think this was 1976, so he was still kind of on the top of his game.  Thanks for the memories.  Now you have to do a blog with my other theme song.  Billy Joel sings a song and I'm not sure the exact name but the gist is... I don't care what you say anymore, this is my life!  Have a wonderful day.

Jason: You're right haven't got on board with the blog customizing so far. It takes away from the width of my text.

Arina: Rare birds not only make life interesting, to me they are very special.

Leesa: So you're the wild child in the family. I see it is passed down through the generations. Tell hubby to chill. You and your ways were what was attractive to him.

Cynthia: Glad you're you.

Rosario: A Shakespeare fan I see.

Julianna: Beware of open doors in dishwashers and hungry dogs : )

Chris: Cell phones at age 10. Amazing!

Becky: Good you know yourself well enough to just be you.

Joddie: Outside the box is the place to be.

Susan: Wow a brush with fame from yesteryear of old Blue Eyes. I put a Billy Joel song in another blog today called Not Quite There Yet.

Gary, Dance to a different drummer, hear another tune, laugh when you shouldn't. Life is too short, enjoy being a little off the beaten path.
