Good morning everyone-I found out about this statue from one of the MANY booklets they have in Pigeon Forge so I had to go get a picture before I left. It was on my 12 hr running around squeezing in as much as I could the day before I left. It was only about 10 min or so from the motel. Seems like everything was 10-15 min from the motel. Now that I have been there I understand why.
This statue of Dolly is situated in her hometown of Sevierville, Tenn. It is in front of the Sevierville prounced (Severe-ville) court house. If you pronounced it differently they had no idea where you were talking about and looked at you like you were speaking a foreign language. There is a plaque on the bottom that I couldn't fit in the same pic. As you will see it was dedicated in 1987. It is part of a 28 stop walking tour in Sevierville.
While there I did indeed visit Dollywood which is in Pigeon Forge. I discovered that Pigeon Forge, Sevierville and Gatlinburg are all within shouting distance of each other. I visited several places in all three of the cities. Now I even met some of Dolly's family while I was there. It is part of one of the shows I saw when I visited Dollywood. Also Dolly is on the screen singing along with the show. It was pretty interesting how they did it. It was the closest thing to having her there without her actually being there.
They even had I think what they called a hologram of her in museum in Dollywood where she could greet everyone that visited there which was a dream she had of being able to do. There was a LOT of Dolly in Dollywood thru modern Technology. They even had her tour bus there. I didn't go in it though.
More adventures and pics coming soon of this activity packed 8 days.
