Serving Up Homes, Not Meals!

I got an interesting SEO marketing e-mail from a woman by the name of Erica. Here in part is what she sent me.

We've been helping area restaurants with brand management for a while now.

In this super quick YouTube video, we'll show you exactly how we do it (and yes, it can work for your restaurant too).

She must have been making her way down some lead list alphabetically and I, of course, was close to the spelling of restaurant....realtor/restaurant, gosh we are SO interchangeable!

I do serve up homes, hot ones that get eaten up right away (two that never made it to the "table/MLS", because my clients made offers on them before I had them officially listed).

So, I realized a point here: know your target market when you're fishing for new business! Do your "homework". Because you may totally be missing your mark and look a bit ridiculous!

Also, make sure that your clients AND your marketing geniuses know the difference between real estate and food.

Got to love those telemarketers that go down the list whether it be restaurants. realtors or just calling you at home.  Love your analogy.

Well, the homes you are serving up do have kitchens in them in which a person can prepare a meal so perhaps that's why they were calling?

Hi Gayle - If marketing campaigns just spent a bit more time and money on the right research, they'd probably do a lot better. This one generated zero credibility.

Too funny. I can't believe these folks think before dialing. Wow. Cute way to turn it into a post and a positive. :)

Gayle- you said it correctly.. it makes them look ridiculous.  Why would anyone want to work with a company that cannot get their own target audience right.

Yup, my sentiments exactly. That would be similar to me trying to sell homes in Florida!

Nope--and I didn't even care to find out who the company was. How's your little guy, Lake and Aimee faring??

Nothing on your list is a-la-carte, so anyone wanting to partake with you needs to have a good bit of financial backing

This is very good advice. Some real estate agents are certainly missing the mark with their marketing.

Good thing you're not at "FishChicken" or "FishBeef" Lake Gayle Rich-Boxman Fishhawk Lake Realtor (503)755-2905 .   You would be getting a whole lot more of these contacts.
