Hillary, Obama, Mccain: who will help the mortgage crisis the best?

Change...He believes he is the man to bring about change......

Experience and the "two-fer" factor: Is Hillary the best to help this crisis?  She tried at healthcare, which is another crisis, but has been a crisis for a very long time.  Does that former experience help her with this crisis?

McCain: More of the same?  Another Bush?

Republican or democrat?  Does it matter for this crisis?

Please post comments: who will help the crisis the best and why?

neither, congress makes laws and passes them. presidents endorse or disapprove. just a voice for the government. but i see where your coming from. it'll be quite a challenge.

Great question!  I think the most important element to remember her is that the industry did this to itself.  There was too much easy money, too much easy qualifying, and of course the greed factor.  There are certainly other elements involved as well.

The thing that really scares me the most right now is that our government will do too much and go too far to try to "fix" the mortgage and capital markets crisis.  There are certainly areas that need fixing, but there are other areas where there was just no enforcement or accountability.

It always amazed me at the number of borrowers that said "owner occupied" when it was actually investment property.  I don't care how you justify that, it's fraud, pure and simple.  Enforcement would bring lots of these issues under control.

And, increased licensing requirements, continuing education requirements, suitability guidelines like we have in securities and investment markets, etc.  But, too much response for the government will hurt us for years to come.  I understand there is a lot of pain out there right now, but a quick fix is not the answer.  We need to work through the pain, and there are signs that we are doing just that.

So, that was a long ramble to get to my point.  I think Obama and Clinton will over react and respond with too much change and regulation for political  gains than what they should.  McCain is the right choice for handling the mortgage market.  He is not exactly the candidate that I would prefer to see, but given the three choices, he would be the right choice for the present market.

Hi Josue'

I have to disagree with you.  Someone has to introduce the legislation into the House, and the President can certainly entertain and initiate legislation through a specific representative.

And, Congress only controls the legislative branch.  They do not control regulations put forth by the Executive Branch (President).  Regulations can be just as damaing, if not more so, than legislation gone wild.

None.  We just need Ben Bernake to step it up a notch, The presidents can voice about help funding losses and help freezing rates but it does nothing to the roots which is the loan programs that we offer and how they are being bought.  Just my 2 cents.  Have a great day!

The last 8 miserable years prove that it DOES matter who is in the White House.  Personally, I hope Obama gets it....

I don't think Billary can manage her own campaign let alone our government. McCain is the choice for me, if you want my opinion. I think John McCain will be his own man, not another Bush. JMHO!

Why we are crying for the intervention of the government? This is business, good or bad, and it has the way to correct itself, and any intervention is extension of agony, Let it fall flat and be over with.

Why are we longing for socialist way of doing things? We need to help, to do something. We have already done, and we are in a whole. So, stop doing anything else, and we would have a bellter chance to get out of it and learn the lesson.

Another government intervention, and the lesson we learn will be KEEP DOING IT, THEY WILL KEEP BAILING YOU OUT.

The mortgage crisis will be well on its way to be solved by the time any of these people become President.  Still it is an important question.  Politicians tend to overreact to a crisis and this usually means new laws, when often it is enforcement of existing laws that is needed.

That being said there are certain things we should not do.  We should not bailout people who bought mortgages.  The single best way to prevent people from making dumb loans is to let therm lose their money.  Investor are probably overly leary of mortgage backed securities at the moment.  In the long run this caution will place rational limits on loans.  Investors will no longer finance loans that have little chance of being paid back.

Hilary is the one and the only one to help this country!!  We need passion, yet a strong force, someone with a powerful united presence! We need someone to obliterate the "enemies" - We need health-care, we need a women to bring this country to the next level.  Sadly, McCain has a temper, he will loose his cool in time of crisis, which our country is in right now!  My vote is Hilary!  We need a change and I think Hilary is the one to do it!   She is certainly the "best of a poor lot" - CHANGE IS NECESSARY FOR OUR COUNTRY TO GO FORWARD AND BECOME THE GREAT NATION IT IS!!!  Great Question Mrs. Sabbagh!  Keep up the good work!  BEEP BEEP
