Sibert
Thanks for stopping by and taking time out of your day to read my post. My intent is to put a smile on your face. Hopefully you’ll go away with some information you may have forgotten about or did not know. Now sit back and enjoy the post for the day.
Sibert was born in Gore, Virginia back in 1873 to Charles and Mary. At the age of nine she moved with her parents to the frontier of Nebraska. Her father tried farming for eighteen months and moved again to Red Cloud where he opened a real estate and insurance business. There for the first time their children attended school. Her time in the Nebraska wilderness influenced her by its vastness or the prairie and the various cultures of the European-American and Native American families that lived in the area. She went on house calls with a local physician where she decided to become a doctor. Luckily for us she decided later to take a different course.
In 1906 she moved to New York City where she remained for the rest of her life. You may know her better as Willa “Sibert” Cather. Some of her writings include O Pioneers, The Song of the Lark and My Antonia. She won the Pulitzer Prize for One of Ours, a novel set during WWI.
