Hi Bonnie...

You mentioned one of my heroes...William McDonough when you pointed out my post...He is making a HUGE impact on the way we think about healthy living environments all across the WORLD...Just one thing...janeAnne is from ASHEVILLE not Nashville, NC =)

The  whole systems approach to green development in "He's designing seven entirely new and entirely GREEN cities with A Comprehensive Plan for Eco-development.  is something I think REALTORS can use in discussions as a great jumping off point...

janeAnne - Sorry about the typo, it was really early here in Arizona when I posted this and I don't think I was fully awake yet. Thanks for the bookmark and the recommendation to be featured. :-)

Dan - that is so true, green is the new black, but I think it will be more than just a fad. Although many businesses are using it as a marketing ploy, consumers are welcoming it as it is something that many people can get behind and feel good about. It is also spurring alot of innovation and creativity in the marketplace which is just fantastic!

Steve - I found it bery interesting reading some of the other great posts here on AR and seeing what others here have to say about going green. There are a lot of creative ways we can all green up our lifestyles and it is fun to read about them and share them with others.

Happy Earth Day!  I am a closet tree hugger.  Don't tell my friends!  One of my favorite developments is the Issaquah Highlands.  They even use electric cars to drive around.

Hi Bonny, thankyou so much for mentioning me in your post. What a great compilation...I will be switching to vegetable based liquid laundry soap for sure. There are so many little changes that we can make, that really would make a huge difference. I wish Starbucks would charge less for their coffee if you take your own cup, I am sure that would be an incentive for many people.. Have a lovely Earth Day everyone x

Michelle  My Starbucks gives a $.10 discount if you bring in your own mug.  Not a huge saving monetarily, but a great savings environmentally.

Alternative Fuel Vehicles - Fountain Hills Unified School District Science Research Club Hydrogen CarDan - Electric cars are a great way to get around in a small community. In Fountain Hills, Rio Verde & Tonto Verde many residents use electric golf carts as their main form of transportation. Fountain Hills town officials and the Chamber of Commerce can often been seen using electric golf carts to get around town during local events. Most recently I have also seen quite a few Smart Cars cruising around town, even a convertible model. But I think the most famous alternative fuel vehicle in the area is the Fountain Hills Research Club's Hydrogen car.

Those are some great pictures. We had an early start to Earth Day. There was some major recycling going on, dump the pump day, and then the Tour De Georgia....

Ryan - Edible landscaping can be a lot of fun. Here in Arizona one of our most common forms of edible landscaping is citrus fruit trees. However I enjoy growing herbs in my yard. Rosemary makes a very attractive ground cover or hedge that is heat tolerant and grows well with low water. The best part is that it adds delicious flavor to chicken, pork, beef and vegetables. There are a lot of other fun ways to easily incorporate edible plants into your landscape. Give it a try!
