9:51am Good thing I got here early, because it took me forever to turn on all the lights in this house (the same house that I’m building down the street). Some switches work 4-6 lights, some work a single can light, some don’t seem to do anything. There is Christmas music coming through the built-in speakers in every room. I love it!
10:22am I fear this could be a long day. I usually get a little stir crazy during my traditional 2-hour open houses. I’m here for eight hours today. So far, I’ve reviewed all the neighborhood prices, lot availability, studied the two floorplans that I wasn’t all that familiar with. I’ve checked email, sent Matt an email, and looked up a few houses on the MLS.
10:35am Have I mentioned that I have several of these sales center shifts coming up? I’m scheduled to sit here eight days in a row later this month, for 8 hours at a time. I am NOT complaining, though. This is a great opportunity and I’m actually really excited to be here.
11:01am I stood and stared at the guest bedroom for a little while… trying to see if there’s another way the furniture in there can be arranged. I’d love to put the bed on ANY other wall in that room… Tried to use the office tape measure to see how much space is between the window and the bathroom door, but the thing is completely gunked up and won’t ‘extend’.
11:37am BRRRRRRR. I should have brought a jacket. It’s cold in here. I keep stepping outside to warm up a little bit. P.S. No one has stopped in here yet…
11:55am Wow, I really zoned out for a minute.
12:08pm They’re talking about me in the other room…. Well, they’re talking about my house… I keep hearing, “Lot 26”, over and over – in between some Spanish words that I don’t recognize from high school.
1:15pm Used the fancy microwave to heat my frozen lunch. (I don’t know what to do with my trash?!? Do I take it home with me?) I’m still just sitting here alone, no one has come in here yet. (Is this normal, or have I scared people away somehow?) Well, now I’m kind of hoping no one comes while I sit and eat…
1:26pm Lunch was tasty. Checked my teeth; one little green speck right up front. Took care of that, and now I’m ready for all the people to start coming in. (I hope the whole house doesn’t smell like balsamic glazed chicken.)
2:12pm Working on making a Christmas list for my mom… she asked for that days ago…
2:48pm A LADY CAME IN!!!!! (But, she just stopped by to visit her husband who works out here…)
3:57pm Made myself a cup of coffee. Hopefully that is a community Keurig.
4:53pm One hour left. I’ve been productive despite no one coming here ALL DAY… I did some good work stuff. I’m going to go ahead and post this, finish the projects I’ve started, and then work on getting all these lights turned off.
