So you need a new well? Or you found out your septic system, which works fne, is no longer compliant. Now what? A new well is $5000 plus. A new septic can run from $7000 to $25000. Most people don't have this much money sitting around. We all want to protect our water supply, lakes and rivers but doing so is going to take all of your savings plus. There has to be a better way.

Well I am here to tell you about a great program that treats you more like city folk, even though you are in the country. When the city puts in a new street in front of your house they assess you a portion of the cost. Now Anoka County is willing to do the same thing. They will fund the new well and or septic system and then assess the property to recover the money. In this case they do charge 3-4% interest. That is so much better than wiping out your savings or putting on a charge card at 15%.

The county administers a state agricultural program that addresses well and septic as part of a water quality initiate. We have worked with households from Blaine-north. There is no income requirement, asset requirement etc. Very easy program to work with. I have attached the link for the county webpage that should give you the Guidelines and the Application.
