Electronic Notarizations

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Scanlon Signing Services

Hello,

I hope everyone is having a great start to this new year. I just wanted to anounce that Florida House Bill 1305 took effect Januray 1, 2008. This Bill authorizes electronic notarizations to be performed in the state of Florida. This means notaries can electronically notarize documents and the state can record them. Florida's eNotarization law is the first to include national standards published by the National Assoc of Secretaries(NAAS)- this is an important step that will streamline the exchange of enotarized documents between Florida and other states that include the national standards. Scanlon Signing Services has obtained our electronic notary seal, laptop and all the other necessary equiptment to perform this type of notarization. Please call on us we are ready when you are for this exciting new realm.

Sincerely,

It is possible but the counties need the technology in place to record these electronic documents and they are working on it as we speak. I will keep everyone updated as soon as new information becomes available.

Lisa,

We've been bantering this idea back and forth amongst a large group of notaries for a while now.  I think the concensus is that this may be a great avenue for progress at some point in the future.  Right now, it seems cost prohibitive, unproven and from what I can tell, not widely accepted (speaking nationally).  I will watch in anticipation to see your future reports on just how well it is going.  As a huge believer in technology myself, I'm rooting for such a system.  I also believe that the expense of setting this up could keep the bored housewives and stay-at-home dad's from dabbling as a notary.  We need more professionals and far fewer of those who don't take the profession seriously.

Good luck with it!!
