Want to Run a Successful Email Campaign?

DON'T IGNORE THE CUSTOMER!

  • The email list has been built, bought or both.
  • The content of the emails has been carefully crafted.
  • The emails are sent to the target audience in a regular basis.

All of this has as been done in hopes of bringing in some business.  When a prospect finally picks up the phone and calls, do they expect to speak with the person whose name is on the emails?  The person whose name has become familiar?  Or an assistant or colleague?

I'd expect to speak with the person whose name is on the emails.  The emails were purportedly from that person, trying to make a connection so they could convert me into a customer.

As Realtors, we market ourselves and we're the ones with whom prospective clients would like to speak with when they call, especially on the initial contact.  Clients want to know they're important to the service provider.

Can you imagine how unimportant it would make a prospective client feel when they respond to your marketing and you can't bother to take or return their call?  How many missed opportunities have you left in your wake?  Hopefully, few or none.

It's amazing how little one actually has to do to stand out in a good way.  Returning calls quickly and following up with leads in a timely fashion always gets a positive reaction.

Great point!  Yes, the person sending the emails should have the courtesy to at least make the initial contact.

Brilliant point Jill Murty, Realtor - Orange County, CA and most of the folks I know that do mass advertising have an assistant who follows up. I LOVE this advice!

Actually responding when the emails come in is very important.  And it is best if they can get a hold of the person sending the mails...not an assistant.

You'd think they'd want to make contact Ryan Huggins - Thousand Oaks, CA, if only the initial contact.

Thanks Bob "RealMan" Timm!  I think it's important to make the connection with the prospective client and not delegate it to an assistant.  I see why people do it, especially if they're running a massive campaign, but it's not for me.

I completely agree with you Chris Ann Cleland

It sounds as though the open rate for your newsletter is excellent.  I hope the calls come in soon!  Your clients will be happy to know you care about their business enough to take the call yourself Raymond E. Camp.

Jill lately I've been blasted with massive amounts of emails (constantly I might add) by folks that I don't know - and for sure never opted in.  I don't get why they think I'd be interested......it's so over the top over done.

It's not for everyone Captain Wayne - Rowlett Real Estate School.

Bombarding people with emails they didn't opt in for is not the way to make them want to do business with you.  It sure didn't help anyone gain you as a customer Anna Banana Kruchten.

Good Wednesday morning Jill. As a vendor, my farm is real estate agents. I do my best to market to them just as a real estate agent what market to their clients. Follow-up by phone is very important.

Instant gratification is what folks expect when they call, yet I sometimes wonder what it says to prospects when the get me to answer immediately.

Do they wonder why I am answering my own phone right away, is this guy not busy, is he not successful enough to have an assistant to screen his calls?

It is a delicate balance we must maintain.

Thanks Noah Seidenberg.  Second chances are in short supply.

So true about follow up TeamChi - Complete Home Inspections, Inc.

If someone falls over themself to breathlessly answer the phone as though it's the only phone call they've received in a month, that smacks of desperation.  Being available for your clients is part of delivering excellent customer service in my opinion Bob Crane.

Sussie Sutton - Isn't that just nuts?  Answering the phone or returning a call should be regular, not one of the things that makes us stand out from the others.

I have an investor client who listed a home with me in an area where I don't usually work.  It was our first transaction together.  I got the listing because I always answered the phone or returned calls.

That investor and I have done around twenty transactions at this point.  It all started with answering the phone.
