Dine and Dash?
Usually when you hear this phrase it's about someone dining in a restaurant without paying. The immediate image is a diner, circa 1950's, when a waitress turns her back and a patron slips out the door. That certainly fits the description. But what about today's "Dine and Dash?"
This past week, one of my listings had a showing that suprised both my client and I because of the nature of the showing. The agent phoned in advance to show the home; arrived on time for the showing; and the agent used the lockbox as required. But what the agent did next totally surprised me, and specifically my client.
This home is located in a very nice, gated subdivision in Scottsdale. The home is upgraded and decorated to the nines. It shows so well that a recent broker tour reflected several agents commenting on how well it showed, giving it high marks on appearance. So what happened next, totally surprised me due to the price, neighborhood and appearance of this home.
My client discovered that the agent and her clients had sat at her kitchen island and eaten their lunches! Be aware that misusing someone's home for your break that includes a meal is not wise. Liability issues could arise and it's just a bad lack of judgement.
Not only is this entirely unacceptable, it's just plain wrong! Agents can choose another location to eat lunch with their clients. In Scottsdale this time of year, the weather is very pleasant so using an occupied home when the park is blocks away is bad judgement. What if another showing occurred? What if an accident occured during your lunch and a client choked? The potential liability is worth considering. Dine and Dash isn't a good idea!
