Do you help your fellow man?

By

Do you help our fellow man not only during the Holiday's, but all year long?

My wife and I help people all the time.

But, we are very selective on who and how.

There are people who have their hands out all the time.

We help people who are really in need and they are easy to find.

They are the ones that ask for:

Blankets

hats and gloves

Jackets

linens

UNDERWEAR!!!

People like these are truly in need and are trying to help themselves.

Those asking for higher ticket items such as Ipods, $40--$60 video games and other high ticket items to us feel like they are taking advantage of our generosity.

WE took on a family of 6.  The list above is much of what they asked for.  Each child, all under 10, made out their own list and not toys were on the list.

$500 later, everyone will find all they have asked for, PLUS the kids will each find a nice toy and parents will find additional gift cards.

We researched this family ourselves and know why they are truly in need.  We will follow how they are doing through the year and hopefully help them back on their feet.

Please, remember to help your fellow man, all year long...especially those who really are in need.

AND, the family has no idea who is helping them.

Bill, I do hope you included a link to this post in the comment section of Belinda Spillman's  "pay it forward" contest this month.  Great way of helping those in need.....and not those who are greedy.

That is a very generous way to pay back and feel so rewarded as well.  Especially when the younger kids look for something that will give them personal comfort

I think everyone needs to find what they are comfortable with. I like to help the elderly and children. We can all find those we identify with!

I give all year long but especially this time of year. I'm not sure I agree with you about the higher priced items. The people I interact with might also ask for higher priced items....things they could never be able to afford. I understand that.

Bless you, Bill. You did a great thing. I know exactly what you are talking about. I've seen people's generosity abused by some people that expressed a need, but didn't really feel a need.

I do give all you. I donate to the animal shelter and to my local foodbank.

Nice job Bill, helping those in need is a rewarding job, and a job that Christ expects all of us to do.

Thank you so much for helping so many and sharing your story! You're absolutely right that individuals asking for coats, linens, toiletries, etc are the ones likely in the greatest need. I'll be praying for that family and that they can get back on their feet soon! Thanks so much again for sharing!
