If a bedroom has changed to another function such as an office or sewing room, it should be converted back. Many buyers are not able to imagine the room as its intended use and leave thinking the house had fewer bedrooms than they were looking for.
Depending on the target market, a bedroom can be staged as you need it if it matches the or converted into a room you wouldn’t necessarily use but could be of interest to your potential buyer. For example, If there is a high school in the neighborhood and you have a spare room, design a room that would be of interest to a teenager. It will show homebuyers the house can accommodate a family with older children. Here are a few bedroom suggestions:
- A Nursery: Peaceful, lovable and neutral in gender
- Young Child’s Room: Neutral, fun, engaging and tidy
- Young Teen’s Room: Neutral, pleasant, serene and a place to study
- Guest Room: Luxurious, tranquil and engaging
Real Results
This room was one of five on one level but very small and didn't really need to appeal to anyone in particular. It needed to be kept simple to allow for freedom of movement. Upon entering, the bed became the focal point and curtains were removed to show off the windows and allow for more light to enter the room.
