Stop Making Excuses. How Can You Buy A Home Now?

By
Education & Training with Although I'm retired, I love sharing my knowledge and learning from other real estate industry professionals.

Buy or RentI am no longer an active, licensed, real estate agent so what I am going to say in this blog post is coming straight from the heart and not for any personal gain.

I know there are a few (very few) good reasons NOT to buy a home, depending on your lifestyle and job situation. However, if you want to buy a home and think you can't afford to... figure out a way!

What is holding you back?
Do you think prices might go down?  They might or might not.
          Probably not.

Do you think interest rates might go down.  They might or might not.
           Probably not.

     Is it the down payment?

Is it the monthly payment on a home that willl meet your needs?

If you are paying rent, I'm going to be bold and say... you can and should buy a home!

When I was 21, I purchased my first home.  The payment was just a few dollars more than what I was paying in rent.  To subsidize my payments, I took in a renter... for 6 years.  She was paying an amount equal to 1/2 the mortgage payment and half the utility payments.  I was getting all the tax write-offs and building equity.

When I sold the house 6 years later, I walked away with $26,000 cash to put into my next home.

I realized at that moment, my net housing cost had been $0 and I made money to boot.

Eventually, regardless of whether prices go up or down or rates go up or down, your home will be paid for.  Rent NEVER stops. You can be guaranteed rent will go up.  Never down.

As I said, there are reasons NOT to buy a home but the reasons to buy a home are far greater and more empowering!

The truth is... you ARE buying a home.  If you are a renter, you are paying for your landlords real estate.

My first piece of advice is to go to a lender and find out what you need to do to buy a home.  Then you will know what steps to take to make it happen.

Then, contact a REALTOR, and discuss your situation and come up with a plan to purchase a home of your own.

Yours for success,
Carol

A great post for taking away excuses not to buy a home.  Where there's a will, there's a way.  Just take prioritizing.
