Nutrients to get a Seedling Growing Strong
I like this picture that I snapped back in October, at the Marywood retreat center north of Woodruff Wisconsin.
We see nature planting seedlings in all sorts of places and all sorts of ways.
This is a fairly common planting method in fairly moist forests, often chosen by a few smart seeds who are looking for a good slow release fertilizer that will last a decade or more.
Most of the time we see Yellow Birch choosing this seedbed, but this time it is the mighty White Pine that has chosen this prime seed bed.
Though it does have its advantages like a slow release fertilizer, this seed bed also has disadvantages, like the inevitable stilted knuckled looking roots that this tree will have after the stump melts away in a decade or so.
