I've been consumed with a myriad of activities over the past four months and my blogging time has been reduced to none or very little. I miss that side of my life, and I hope to rectify that in the new year.
The video below helped me center today. I come from a very diverse music background. I played heavy metal music most of young years into my 30s, and I still love it today (though some genres don't impress me today).
Ironically, in what we call God's little joke, I married a classical musician. She is an extraordinary talent in that she not only plays the piano flawlessly, but she sings like an angel and she can pick up an instrument and learn it in a short time. I do envy that. What she did bring to my life, was some, and I have to qualify that since I've always been a head-banger, appreciation for classical music.
My all-time most favorite song isn't Stairway to Heaven, or Purple Haze or any number of other classic metal songs, no, it's Pachelbel's canon in D. My favorite musical instrument is not a Gibson Les Paul Custom or a Stratocaster (though, I love both), it's a violin. And, one of my favorite violinists, is Lindsey Stirling.
Lindsey has a way of taking the most well known pieces of music and driving them deep down into your soul. Music is the universal language that all people can communicate with, and she does it so well. Enjoy the video below, and take some time this holiday season to reflect on the abundance of blessings available to you. We, in this country, are blessed with so many things and so many opportunities. I pray that in 2016, a new world will open up to you that draws out the greatest gifts that were sewn into the fabric of your soul when you were created.
