For the last 2 or 3 years, several friends and I have been invited by a mutual friend to carol during the lunch hour at the residential home for seniors where she works. Yesterday we joined her and the residents for this year's sing-along.
Our friend had provided everyone with bells and tambourines and had prepared a list of songs she thought the residents might want to hear and sing. She also provided us with lyric sheets. Good thing she did.
You know how it goes. You've heard, (or sung), a carol umpteen times but woops!...this time around you're havin' bit of trouble remembering a few of the words. We all shared a good laugh each time someone would look up and ask "how does that song start again?" Then with a few shakes of our jingle bells, everyone would merrily launch into song. After we sang a few carols from the prepared list, we asked the residents to suggest songs for everyone to sing.
The hour ended with what could only be described as a rousing rendition of Total Praise, a song that several of the residents mentioned as their favorite. Here's a video of Total Praise sung by the choir from the Crystal Cathedral in Southern California.
Enjoy!
