Christmas here on Blue Lake Road has been put on hold for the moment. Our son is a power lineman, and that means he's working - either a 40 hour shift or until power is restored to Avista customers in the area. (after 40 hours, they get 6 hours off, then start 18 hour shifts.)
Either way, Christmas Eve dinner and opening presents in the morning isn't going to happen. There are simply too many "powerless" people right now for us to expect to see him tonight. If we get really, really lucky, he'll be back for dinner tomorrow. The weather report says this snow is supposed to slack off, so perhaps all the trees that were going to fall over power lines have already done it?
If not... whenever he's finished will be Christmas for us.
Meanwhile... I bring you a repeat from last year: a link to a heartwarming Christmas Story that my Mom wrote for my kids when they were small.
I hope you enjoy The Christmas Tree.
Merry Christmas to all... !
