Debbie Laity is hosting an ActiveRain challenge this month titled "Show Us Your Home for the Holidays Season 2...December Contest". Debbie's challenge is for us to share our favorite Holiday display. It can be a display of our home or any other display that really catches our eye and causes us to say WOW!.
I did not have to do much thinking about what Holiday display is my favorite. My Favorite 2015 Holiday Display for the last several years is on a street about a half mile from my house here in Middletown, Connecticut, on Sandhill Road. The residents on this street go all out in decorating their homes with lights every year, and this year is no exception. The light display on each house is very much the same every year, but this year a couple of the house added some Frozen displays. Sandhill Road is easily the best Holiday Display in Middletown, Connecticut, and I wish there was an award I could give them for the great job they do.
The residents on the street also put out a box for those who are stopping by to see their homes all lit up to donate food for those in need during this time of the year, as well as a kettle to make cash contributions. I don't know how much they collect each year, but each time I drive by the containers in front of each house are pretty full.
I really admire the residents of Sandhill Road for the effort they put into decorating their homes, which brings pleasure to those who drive by to enjoy. But at the same time not losing sight of the spirit of this time of the year by using this opportunity to provide for the needing in Middletown.
Another great place to take the family to for a great Christmas light display is "Hubbard Park, Meriden, Connecticut". I did not get a chance to go visit the light display at Hubbard Park the last couple of years, but I am hoping to be able to go by there this coming weekend with my wife before their displays are taken down.
