Is Winter a Good Time to Sell My House in Rodanthe?

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Shore Realty of the Outer Banks NC#127284

Do you find yourself asking, is the timing right to put my house in Rodanthe on the market right here in the middle of winter? The answer is simple, yes. Unlike other areas, where home sales peak and fall with the ebb and flow of the school system, home sales in Rodanthe are not restricted by families looking to relocate. Often, busy professionals find it more convenient to shop for an investment property during the winter when traffic and vacationers do not get in the way. Winter shopping for homes is restricted by the weather back home which sometimes keeps the buyers trapped up north.

The graph below shows the number of homes sold in each month in Rodanthe from July 2014 thru July 2015. Winter sales in Rodanthe peaked around Jan 15 and then dropped off until February when sales began to pick back up. The chart records the actual date of closing, which is 4 to 6 weeks after the buyers initially looked at the property.
