While we Lenders, Real Estate Agents, Appraisers and Title folk are worrying about the housing market and its effects on our individual economies, there's hope on the horizon.

Hummingbirds have returned to Tucson, Arizona.

Oblivious to the humans around them, they court the opposite sex, settle on a mate, and get down to the business of building a home.

The gossamer nest protects the tiny eggs from wind and weather.  Chittering defiantly at my camera, the mother refuses to budge, and after two or three photos, I retreat.

Awesome photos! Tom  Mike - whatever you are doing to these photographs is amazing. Something I am just going to have to pick your brain over.  Good to see the housing is sound and well in Arizona, even in our trees!

Great photos. Aren't those little hummingbirds great. Last year we were fortunate to have a nest right outside of Bob's office window. We were able to watch as the two little ones stood on the edge of the nest and flapped their little wings for the first time.

You reminded me to put whip up some hummer juice and hang my feeders out!

Mike hung out the hummer feeders 3 weeks ago and I love watching them.  All the birds building makes me smile and stop what I'm doing just to watch their busy activity.  There is no housing bubble there!

Nanette,

Aren't they wonderful!  Thanks for commenting.

Susie,

They'll be looking for you!

Bob and Carolin,

We're blessed in AZ to have so many different species; when my Darlin' and I lived back in NJ, we had just the Ruby Throated Hummingbirds, but at her parents home in Green Bank, they have had as many as 30 birds at a time hovering around four 1-qt feeders.  They go through 50 lbs. of sugar in a summer.  Thanks so much for commenting!  I hope to see you at the AZ Blogging Network event tomorrow morning.  (Click the image for more info.)

Candace,

Thanks for being the first to comment!  We'll see you in the a.m.

Very cool we are starting to see them here also. Today I have set aside a couple hours to work in the yard. I miss doing that.

That hummer looks like she is daring you to even think about coming near.  Careful, she'll show you what she's got.  :)   Nice shot of a still hummer.

These tiny beings are so wonderful to watch. Thanks for the nest picture - the nests are pretty hard to find here!

Thanks for the reminder to put out the feeders.
