RECIPE FOR A DIGITAL FAST

You probably hear it all the time – you need a break from the tech! But in today’s uber digital world, it’s so much easier said than done. (Hello, Facebook!)

Shutting down your gadgets for even one hour a day will help you feel more connected and present in the world. Plus, basking in a little quiet and stillness can actually boost your productivity and get your creative juices flowing

.
Are you feeling digitally exhausted? Here are 5 tips to help you unplug.
> Take a mini road trip without your GPS and focus on your surroundings (and your print map) instead.
> Skip checking your email first thing in the morning and use this time to let your mind wake up naturally

.
> Spend a day doing fun activities without stopping to share them on Facebook (you can always document your day when you get home).

> Forgo the weekend Netflix binge in favor of doing something entertaining that also engages your mind, like playing a board game, nurturing your inner artist or taking up a new hobby.

> Spend your lunch hour going for a power walk and focusing on the food you’re eating.

Recipe for a Digital Fast ..... Can you do it

By unplugging, you can get a stronger connection with yourself and the world around you.

How often do you power down the tech and give yourself a break?

We all need to dis-engage from the machines and their screens every once in a while.  Get outside a breathe some fresh air and put the phone down.

Rob thank you for sharing your thoughts on this topic I agree getting outside and seeing what is around us is so important. I have the luxury of doing this most nights with my husband as we check the cattle. It is truely amazing what one can see and hear in the quite noise of the back 40. Blessed indeed.

I find it kinda funny, but I know people that go on vacation, and all they do is spend time facebooking pictures.  While cool to see, how about you shut it and enjoy what your doing.

Yes sir it is funny how we post pictures of what we are doing. It is as if we just can not shut it down and must communicate all the time with others. I do it myself all the time take photos of the cattle at night as we feed them crazy but true.

Oh the time we spend on our smart phones. I LOVE to turn it off again and again. Hard for sure, but it does matter for being in the moment.

I did a LOT of it while on vacation last month and loved it.  So turning off tech for family time is something I'll be doing more of in 2016

There will be a day when I can turn off the phone and not feel the panic of doing so. Not there yet but will be I am sure

What can we do for you today?

Turning off the phone is a hard item to do..... we are sure to pick the phone up when we should really set it down and not look at it. My plan for tomorrow is to leave it off all evening. Let see if I can make it ..... will update everyone.

I get the majority of my leads through Facebook.  I hope all the agents in my area put their phones down and turn off all their social media often... I'll be happy to grab all the leads and close all the deals while they take their break! lol

Amy Gutschow interesting that one would get leads through facebook. How are you doing this. Please share with us how you achieve the leads you speak about.

Richie you are correct we do use these tools way to much. Seems folks realy want a text more than a phone call. I wonder why that is.... Seems that old school ways are gone but maybe not.

We can definitely feel refreshed and energized if we turn off the devices for a little while.

Kat thank you for stopping by and saying hello. It can be helpful to just shut off the devices for a bit. Let family time be family time. Or just alone time if no family is around. I have found that listening to Joel and Victoria Olstean in my car is helpful as well.

It's so easy for five minutes on Facebook to quickly turn into 30. One of my goals for 2016 will be to spend a lot more time playing with the three-dimensional people.
