Pond RipplesThere are many categories of Real Estate to look at for primary and secondary homes. Some of my favorites to explore are the rural types - Farm & Ranch, acreage, and country properties. Why is this? There is just something serene about getting out in the country and at least temporarily away from the busyness of urban or suburban life. Even if you just visit these places.

I am convinced the wide open, quiet spaces teach us much about harmonizing with what life is supposed to be about. The chirping of the birds, the nature, the breeze through the trees, the greenery, all relax us.

A very simple lesson evident to me in this setting is throwing a rock in a pond and it produces a ripple outgoing from the point of impact. To me this illustrates the ripples of kindness which I have seen so many times in my own life.

Never underestimate the HUGE impact on the world of "one" kind deed. It can affect those closest to it immediately but then goes outward into the world to others to be passed along. Ripples can be negative as well so that's why at all costs keep the negativity as best you can OUT of your life.

Ripples of kindness can last for just that day causing a brief smile when the clerk at the grocery store compliments you on your hair style, your dress, or your beautiful smile. It may be something that is remembered for a week. Or sometimes in critical moments in your lifetime especially later on when someone passes away but said something to you or did something for you beforehand, you will remember it for a lifetime.

So be those little pebbles in the center of a country pond that produce wonderful waves of kindness and love in the pond we call life. See if you can make them reach from one shore to the other shore.

Gary, It's incredible how far reaching one small act can have--good or bad.  It can touch more people then we ever imagined.....we need an official "be kind to everyone day."

Carole: A like the idea you have to set aside a special day to focus on this. Afterall we have all sorts of other days like we just had Earth Day. I know Christmas and the traditional December holidays are like this when we get away from all the commercialization of everything.

mesmorizing... I love just visualizing the endless and soft current of the water rippling through the stillness. Pairing that with thoughts of kindness is powerful! Thanks Gary!

You are so right. No action occurs in a vacuum, so it is important that we remain mindful of possible consequences.

Julianna: Quiet ponds just relax you so much don't they?

Rosario: It's the old cause and effect, you are right.

I love this blog. It reminds me of the Starbuck's story where someone in a drive-in line bought a cup for the person behind them then it rippled all the way back down the line. Look what one small act of kindness did there. I think we have all bought someone a breakfast or drink when we were out and told the waitress not to tell them until we are gone. That is definitely fun.

Norman Vincent Peale inspired me with his books.  He said that thought transferance was akin to those pebbles thrown into a pond.  The thoughts just went out and vibrated.  You think bad, the vibrations were bad, think positive and the vibrations were positive.  I've always thought that is why we have multiple offers on houses.  One person thinks it is wonderful.  Those vibrations go out and are picked up by others.  SO EVERYONE WANTS IT AT THE SAME TIME.

Barbara: A favorite of mine as well, Norman Vincent Peale makes a great point about vibrations. That multiple offers idea is very interesting. Kind of like supply and demand. When the demand turns up the offers pour in. Maybe we all just need to think good thoughts. It certainly can't hurt.

Carol: I think I'll start skipping my pebbles across the water. That's always another interesting diversion for my attention deficit self : )

Hey Gary- Energy follows thought.  Think good postive thoughts, and the good energy will follow.  Call it the power of intention, call it what you will.  We never know the impact our actions, no matter how small, may have.

Hi Gary, and Yes! I love water, when I am a little "off kilter" the saying is "just add water"... take me to a lake, ocean, or I can even just get a nice bubble bath... and I am good as new.

Carol: Our thoughts and actions you are right send out those waves. Even the smallest of intentions can have great impact.

Julianna: Water, even the sound of the flowing water in a bathtub, outside in a Koi pond, the ocean waves, all do have a calmng effect. I need to "just add water" much more often for me too.
