Among one of the fairly recent changes to the look of the ActiveRain Website, there is an Orange bar at the top of the "Stats" page labeled “Lifetime Stats” with some interesting numbers on it.

While the number of posts seems straightforward and even understandable, there is one number that seems impressive to me. Over 6.65 MILLION views?

Does anyone know what the heck this number means? That seems like an impressive number of people to have visited my blog on ActiveRain. So while comments may seem pitifully small by comparison, this number surely reflects either a significant amount of interest, the ability of search engines to find my blog, or a lot of “mistakes.”

Whatever it means---it sure looks good sitting up there.

Per blog, that represents over 3,300 hits per blog or a percentage of 4.95.

What do your numbers look like?

Just did - 5.6 mil. Had no idea. That's 2600 hits per post. Had no idea.

Jay, you have a great number as well and starts to confirm a suspicion I have that people search for stuff they are interested in and because we write a lot of posts about that "stuff" we tend to get found more.

Charles - This is good that we have it, but that # is artificially inflated for anyone who's been here a while. A while back (maybe 2 years ago), they switched the views and clicks. For the old post, the includined the old definition of "views" which simply meant that someone "saw" your post...and did not necessarily "click" it. So, if they saw it on the blog roll, that counted, if they saw it on google that counted. These numbers were very funky.

For example, I had a post w/ 37,000 views and 3,700 clicks (or somewhere around there) and when they converted, it kept the 37,000 number rather than the 3,700 # (the lower number was correct). I use this as an example...I prob. have 1000-2000 posts in similar boat.

I've seen this but quite frankly didn't think much about it. I would think it is the total number of times your blog has been viewed by showing up in a search - not necessarily being clicked on. But I may be wrong. Bob Sewart will have the answer
