National Answer Your Cat's Question Day ~ January 22nd

answer your cat's question dayATTENTION ALL CAT LOVERS! Friday, January 22nd, is National Answer Your Cat's Question Day!  Really, it is!

Historians believe that cats and humans have been co-habiting for some 12,000 years, and yet despite these thousands of years, we as humans still are quite mystified by the cats around us. But as it turns out, cats are just as mystified by us!

If you've ever wondered what your cat is really thinking when its sitting there sphynx-like, today is the day to pay close attention to your cat and give them some answers to their age-old questions. And if you're a cat lover, like myself, be sure to check out Ellen's video about National Answer Your Cat's Question Day. I've watched it any number of times over the years and laugh like mad each time!

One question I do know many cats are asking is "when will I get my fur-ever home?" There are just so many beautiful cats in shelters just waiting for you to give them a loving, furr-ever home. Why not answer their question today and go to your local shelter and adopt one of these cats?

Here in the Charlotte metro area, you can go to the Humane Society of York County and find a huge selection of beautiful cats and kittens who are hoping you'll take one (or more) of them home with you. Check out some of them below and if you click on their pictures, you can also get more information about each of these lovelies.

I communicate quite well with my cats.  They listen to commands just like the puppies do.  And they communicate quite well with me too.

Bob "RealMan" Timm ~ good morning, Bob... I used to enjoy Monty Python way back when, but somehow don't remember cat skits. Of course, they are jus the type to do them.

If I remember correctly they would basically claim this cat was "catatonic" and and put it in front of a TV, do all kinds of stuff on the TV until the cat walked away... proclaiming it cured. I think the real point was WE were all catatonic in front of the TV when Monty Python was on.

Tammy Lankford ~ hi Tammy... I have a cat who's also a bit like a dog and responds and even answers back sometimes. And he does it in two languages, no less! We have such smart "children!"

Linda Guess ~ hi Linda... I just love that video. It never gets old for me. Then again, I adore cats... so any day "recognizing" cats is great for me. And the interesting thing is my posts on cats and dogs get huge viewership.

Nina, I have a dog and two cats.  And there is a little kitty out back who is a little wild but lets me feed her.  I'm thinking seriously about letting her inside for the blizzard.  There are cat box issues and will she try to eat the other cats.  But I think I need to give it a try.

Hannah Williams ~ it was insane all day at the supermarkets yesterday--I've never seen such lines at the checkout counters. What I loved was all the people buying frozen foods... if we lose power they can't heat them up. This is how Charlotte normally reacts just to the threat of snow:

Patricia Kennedy ~ hi Pat, in your shoes, I'd be looking to bring that little kitty in as well, even if I had to put it separate somewhere in my home. I couldn't sleep at night thinking it was freezing outside.

Loved this! I have always had cats and am amazed at how different their personalities are. We have two, now, and they were both strays. Rolo is very vocal, and gets really loud when 1. he can see the bottom of his food bowl. He freaks out at a possible food threat, 2. when he wants to be picked up, and 3. when he wants to gnaw on my palm. It's a bizarre fetish of his. Isis is very standoffish to everyone but one of my daughters. If she is in Alicia's room, and I walk in, she will verbally abuse me in her cat language. I have no idea what she's saying to me.

Chrissi Chapman Topoleski ~ hi Chrissie... I also have a cat who could freak out at what you refer to as a possible "food threat." You should hear him call for his evening treats! 9pm on the dot and he never misses the time! I've had cats from the same litter who were completely opposite in personality.... just like human kids!
