Thanks for stopping by and taking time out of your day to read my post.  My intent is to put a smile on your face.  Hopefully you’ll go away with some information you may have forgotten about or did not know.  Now sit back and enjoy the post for the day.

John was born in Rye, England back in 1579 (I remember that date well), anyway his father Richard died shortly after his birth and he was sent to his paternal uncle Giles Fletcher who was a poet and minor official.    A highly intelligent boy he entered Corpus Christi College, Cambridge at the age of eleven.  Little is known about his time in college, but records show he was preparing for a career in the church. 

Don’t really know what happened but he decided on another path.  He worked closely with someone you may have heard of before.  Some guy named Shakespeare on Henry VIII, The Two Noble Kinsmen and the Lost Cardenio. 

After Shakespeare’s death he wrote and played in over fifty plays including his most famous on the Philaster.  It is reported that his fame rivaled Shakespeare’s, he remains an important transitional figure between the Elizabethan popular tradition and the popular drams of the Restoration.
