...for a very simple reason. Visual stimulus is instantaneous. The second you saw that 1915 Ford, your mental thought was interrupted. You stopped. You looked. And now you're reading.
People happen upon Localism posts when they're searching the internet for something else. They're not usually looking for you or your Localism post.
If your post is visually arresting, you have a chance to link the reader to you and your business. That's why you're here, after all. You want Google to make your phone ring.
Good photos will give you that first chance. A wall of words will not interrupt their focus. Only visual stimulation will do that.
Good content will compel them to stay, and give you the best possible chance of converting a new client.
Web 2 will fill the internet with a ton of junk. Visual junk. Set yourself apart with your images. Take a camera course at your local community college. Get together with other Active Rainers in your locale to share tips. Join the Active Rain groups on Photography.
So... Let me tell you about this 1915 Ford that's still driving the streets of Tucson, Arizona.
I got the photo because I hang out at a particular Starbucks, and like to schedule informal meetings there. I always carry my camera.
I'd like to say that the driver of the Ford was my client. She wasn't. But that didn't keep me from getting the photo to share with you!

Hi Mike, You're right of course. Our eye is drawn to all things visual. Do you know what the status is for Localism ? I had heard that it was on hold for awhile due to so much garbage. Thanks for your post.
