Center of the Transaction

The real estate broker has always been the center point of the transaction.  Over the past ten years or so other factions within the industry, most notably the mortgage industry has made an effort to become the center point of entry with the customer.  The idea was to get the customers first and then sell referrals to the brokers.  I have a friend who attended a mortgage conference where the main message was, "Soon the Realtors will sponsor our golf tournaments."

Realtors were the third industry to form a national association, behind lawyers and doctors.  To survive in this business you must follow a strict code of ethics and complete ongoing continuing education.  Realtors should always be the center of the transaction because we have earned the right to serve that role.  The lending fiasco proves it.  The interest of their customers was not at the forefront of their actions.

I work for a home warranty company.  We are partners with agents and brokers.  Lenders, title companies, stagers, inspectors are all partners with agents and brokers, but it is Realtors that serve the buyers and sellers and affiliate members Realtor associations help the agent serve the buyers and sellers.

What do you think?

Steve, the center has to revolve around the agent to be conducted correctly.

I agree.  A transaction needs one manager.  Everyone else is supporting the agent.
