Don't Pretend to be Realtor!

I'm surprised how many licensed agents don't know the difference between a Real estate sales person and a Realtor. If you don't belong to it don't pretend you do and advertise it....If your office says it's a Realtor office all agents in the office should be Realtors as well.

A real estate agent is a Realtor when he or she becomes a member of the national Association Of Realtors. This is not free...It has many benefits not just to the REALTOR but to the clients they represent.

If you are a buyer or seller and you see the Realtor Logo on your agents card, website, or any other advertising material you may want to verify that status. The best way to verify the agents true status is to check for yourself.

Click this link to see http://www.realtor.com/ Go to find a Realtor, then go to Realtor White pages and type in the agents name.

Realtors are committed to a strict code of ethics. Realtors are committed to treat all parties to a transaction honestly.

Why use a Realtor?

Thank you all Realtors for protecting our business and for working to provide affordable medical and dental insurance. The benefits are worth every penny spent.

Jeff, thanks for the reminder to the public on what a REALTOR means.

You are so correct.  The public does not know the difference between being a Realtor and being a licensed real estate sales person!

You are right. I meet so many people who ask me what the difference is.

Nice education piece. People do not know who they are truly dealing with in real estate.

Nice post...this topic has come up in our local newspaper's real estate blog.  This comment was written by a company's owner/broker:

"Joining NAR isn't worth the paper it's printed on...I'm just as good a Realtor as anybody, but I don't need to join NAR to prove it."

Really?  A broker/owner thinks he's a Realtor but won't join NAR...brilliant.  Of course, this is the same guy who called listing agents "Worthless" on this blog.

It is surprising that individuals in the profession don't know the difference between a salesperson and a REALTOR®. What real estate school did they attend?! I am also amazed that a number of us who are REALTORS® misuse the trademarks.
