Despite what the feature list touts, unprofessionally finished is, well, unprofessionally finished.
When the seller lists things as "improvements," and "upgrades," and "featuring...", the list should point to things that truly are those things.
One of the "features" in this condo was the "new flooring throughout!"
I could see in the laundry room that this new flooring, a Pergo product, was laid directly over the old flooring, another Pergo product.
That isn't exactly how you do it.
There were gaps between the abutted edges, some wider than 1/8".
Pergo is a floating floor, meaning it is glued together such that the pieces combine to create a monolithic sheet, and it is tied down at the edges with various moldings and covers.
All over the unit the edges looked like this photo. It was quite unimpressive.
Again, if something is to be called a "feature," and an "upgrade," and an "improvement," it really should be all of those things! Clearly all of what had happened in the unit was done by the homeowner or his friends. Nothing looked at all professionally done.
Hence the title of the post!
My recommendation: "features" that create doubt and a less-than-impressive feeling are not features at all. Things should look good! Things should be done right! Few products look good or last long when they are not installed properly. And when they are visible and out front for all to see it might be best not to tout them to seem as what they are NOT!
