3 Secrets of Facebook Success

To keep user newsfeeds manageable, Facebook uses complex algorithms to decide how posts are distributed. This has resulted in ever-shrinking organic reach. Small Facebook pages, having 1,000 page Likes or less, can expect about 22.8% of their posts to reach their audience. As your page grows, the organic reach actually shrinks! At 50,000 page Likes, organic post reach drops under 10%.

Facebook cheerfully offers to “Boost” your post reach, for a fee. Fortunately, you can improve your organic reach without spending a dime on Facebook advertising! Here are 3 Facebook “secrets” from social media mogul Neil Patel, along with suggestions of our own!

Secret #1: Build audience engagement. The more engagement a post has, the wider distribution Facebook will give it. Engagement includes Likes, Comments and Shares.

Your posts should include “evergreen” content that will interest the widest possible audience, and remain relevant in the future. Examples of evergreen content include:

  • How-to guides (how to buy your first home)
  • Quick tips (turn on all the lights in your home prior to showing)
  • Compelling questions (could you really live in a tiny house?)
  • Call for opinions/comments (which home would you choose, A or B?)
  • A frequently asked question and its answer (how much earnest money is enough?)
  • Industry facts and statistics (stats for home sales in your market)
  • Humor (funny photos, memes, cartoons, videos)
  • Motivational/uplifting posts (quotes, good-neighbor stories)

Secret #2: Time your posts. Opinions vary, but on average, Facebook posts enjoy the most engagement between 1pm and 3pm weekdays. Generally, weekday posts published between 9am and 7pm perform well. If posting weekends, try Saturdays at noon for best results. Pay attention to your analytics page on Facebook to see when your audience peaks!

Secret #3: Post new content multiple times a day. This improves views and engagement exponentially. To put this in perspective, the New York Times publishes posts on Facebook about 43 times a day! TechCrunch posts 39 times a day, and USA Today about 23 times a day. Caution: do not repeat the same content, or bombard Facebook with multiple posts in an hour. Avoid using sales pitches and self-promotion.

There are many secrets to Facebook success, but for most agents, the barrier is simply having the time to pay attention to it! Contact RealSupport today for strategies, set-up, and daily page management.
