What's So Hot About Texas?

By
Real Estate Agent with DFW FINE PROPERTIES 0506509

Winters in Texas are not hot, but they are warmer than most other states. The fact is, there are many hot reasons people consider moving to Texas.

  • Affordable housing
  • A pro-growth tax policy offering no state income tax.
  • Increasing numbers of companies relocating to Texas.
  • Jobs in gas, oil, aerospace, bio-tech, technology, health, new construction, etc.

WHAT'S SO BIG ABOUT TEXAS?

Texas measures about 268,820 square miles, bounded on the south by the Gulf of Mexico. Bordering International Mexico; U.S. States New Mexico, Oklahoma,  Arkansas, and Louisiana. Texas has the longest stretch border of any other state in the United States. The number of square miles in Texas is 7.4% of the nation, bigger than Illinois, all of New England, New York, Pennsylvania, and Ohio.

www.mapsofworld.com/usa/states/texas

The population of Texas is now approximately 27 million people; 16 million cattle. And it's still growing! There's an interesting place in Texas located in Kingsville, TX that has 825,000 sprawling acres. To put things into perspective, that's larger than the entire state of Rhode Island (www.king-ranch.com)

INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT TEXAS

  • TX is not an open range of cowboys and horses
  • TX is the only US state with its own power grid
  • TX is not hot year round
  • TX is a leader in wind power
  • TX is not staggering in growth and opportunities
  • TX grows by about 2,000 people per day

ECONOMICALLY SPEAKING

When the amount of people keep flocking to TX, roads take a beating. Expect road construction. As the planet Texas grows, the need for bigger, better roads is never ending. With oil drilling, companies and people moving to texas, trucks keep trucking! If billions of more people moved to Texas, there'd still be about 1,100 square feet of space for every human in the world. *As ranked by the GDP, if Texas were a country, it would be the 14th largest economy in the world, ranking as the 6th largest oil producer in the world, exceeding 3 million barrels of oil production a day.

WHAT'S THE HOTTEST EVENT COMING UP IN JANUARY?

The 2016 Stock Show All Western Parade begins on January 16th at 11:00 a.m. in Downtown Fort Worth. For general information contact 1-817-877-2420.

Tammy Lankford - Correction - I did go to Atlanta once for the Keller Williams Family Reunion but I spent the whole time at the Reunion and no time visiting  the State of GA. That was 2008 and the Tornado struck after I left the state.

While we may not be as big as Texas, we certainly have big hearts, and big taxes

Patricia you provided several facts about Texas that I was not aware of, and growing by 2,000 people a day is amazing.

Patricia- I love everything about being from Texas because I love to brag about it. I've never been to the rodeo but grew up going to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

George Souto - TX has grown a lot since I relocated here in March 1997. It's grown leaps and bounds! I'll be looking forward to see the census results to do further analysis. It's definitely not a boring place to live!

Hi Kathy Streib - You never really leave a place you love. Part of it you take with you and part of it you leave behind. You have great memories and I know that your last recent visit to TX visiting family was meaningful. As a transplant myself, I get it!!!

Noah Seidenberg - thanks for the tip of the iceberg. I will give my sister a call to see how she's doing. I know it's even colder where my son lives. Those bitter temps are nothing to fool with. If I could send you the sun, I would! But right now, we're feeling the cold too, which I know is nothing like you and my fellow Chicagoians!

Patricia, Texas has a population of 27 million and state of West Virginia has a population of 1,850,326.  I've never been to Texas. My husband and I and our friends were to go for a week about six years ago...but there was a death in our friends family and never made it.  One day perhaps.

Well I learned all kinds of things about Texas that I was unaware of. I knew it was big, having drive across part of item but wow! I also knew about the King Ranch, surprisingly. You have certainly shown your knowledge about the Lone Star State!
