Cinco Ranch Branch Library which is part of the Fort Bend County Library System is offering a no charge Food for Thought “Class on Saturday January 30, 2016. The class starts at 11 AM and lasts until noon and will be held in Multipurpose Room of the Library

There are numerous foods and food groups which benefit the heart but there are Foods which can improve brain health as well. Improving brain health will make a someone more healthy and happier person assuming there are not serious existing health issues.

Susan Giles who is community liason with Amazing Place Houston will conduct a talk centered on ways to achieve or attain a healthier brain by concentrating on nutritional value of foods we consume. She will cover the benefits of eating brain healthy foods such as green leafy vegetables, fresh berries such as blueberries, whole grains, olive oil, fish oil, certain nuts and spices. As we get older preserving our brains and minds become even more important goal or mission.

This is a topic which appeals to me as the most valuable asset we all have is our health. Eating healthy every day needs to be a top priority for all of us. The more we know about healthy eating  the easier it is for us to improve our daily food consumption patterns, potentially lose weight and improve our overall health.  I need to add get exercise to this equation.

We are warming up a bit here which makes exercise easier. I was falling behind in that area during the shorter and colder days.

I do try to eat healthy. I agree with you that eating well is a step we can all take in being proactive in maintaining our health.

First of all, isn't Food for Thought, the perfect title of this class? I would be very interested in attending this as well, as good nutrition is a big interest of mine. Happy Saturday, Bob.

I have noticed that many libraries across the country aren't just about books on the shelves any more.  They often provide valuable learning experiences like this one you mention.

Bob, not only is it learning, but it's a LIFESTYLE. Not dieting, a change or moderation in your approach to food. And it's not for 6 weeks, or six months, it's forever, a day at  a time. Truly a shift in lifestyle and a commitment to yourself, as that is who you are investing in! (And yup, that included exercise)!
