In My Heart, It Will Always Be The "Sears" Tower

By
Real Estate Agent with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Koenig Rubloff Realty Group - Chicago, IL

The tallest tower in the Chicago skyline belongs to Willis Tower. No disrespect to the current owners but in my heart, it will always be “Sears” Tower. Visitors to Willis Tower can enjoy panoramic views of four states from the Skydeck. The bravest of souls can go one step further...literally. Step out onto the glass Ledge for an unforgettable experience of floating in air 103 floor above the streets below.

Adventurous couples  up for a whirlwind experience, can enter to win a 2016 Valentines Day wedding set against a breathtaking backdrop. Couples can submit their entries on the Skydeck Facebook page, until February 1st. Winners will be notified on February 8th. Other special opportunities to enjoy this one of a kind venue include Dining On The Ledge breakfasts, lunches and pizza dinners.

How well can you identify the famous locations that dot the Chicago landscape? While you're enjoying the scenic views, test your knowledge with the the Willis Tower Scavenger Hunt.

Highlight your visit or give a special surprise to someone in your group by having a personalized welcome message, of 60 characters or less, displayed on the wall of the Skydeck as you exit the elevators. You can add your message to the welcome wall by emailing your message and your anticipated date and time of arrival to the Skydeck sales team, sales@theskydeck.com, at least two days before your visit.

The Sears tower has always been a memorable name! I've been to Chicago but never to the top of the tower. Bet it's as beutifull as going to the top of the Empire State Building.

Hi Ellen, for some reason my heart and my mind are at odds over heights.  My heart loves the views from to top of tall buildings, but my mind reminds me that I have a touch of vertigo.  In most cases, my heart wins!  :)

Karen Winters I lived in Chicago in the past, and always liked the view from Sears Tower Skydeck.

A fantastic place - but I am not fond of heights, even from inside a building. Or, maybe especially from inside a building.

Hi John Pusa , there was a time that I almost lived in the Sears Tower, from running over to eat in the food court to heading to the bank there, to taking out of town visitors to the Skydeck.

Hi Marte Cliff, I think it depends on where I am.  I love looking over high cliffs and from the windows of tall buildings.  But stepping out on the glass box of the Ledge and riding in glass bottom helicopters will be a big challenge for me.

Karen - I'm happy looking at the view from the top of a mountain, but even seeing the photos from the Sears Building made my middle feel queasy. No way on earth would I step into that glass box, even if I talked myself into going that high up in a building.

Airplanes don't really bother me, and I've enjoyed a helicopter ride a couple of times, but it didn't have a glass bottom!

I was born in Chicago. My family moved to the suburbs when I was four. I had no idea the name had been changed but it will always be the Sears Tower to me as well. Interesting information for a hyper-local post. Well-done.

Intriguing, but no way for me. I get the heebie jeebies just being near the window of high places. The Hancock Tower offers a similar thing where you can stand in a window which then tips out over the street. Nope not for me. And I will always think of it as the Sears Tower, too

Great post Karen but not going to happen for me.  I don't like heights and would never even go up there...

There mere idea of stepping onto a glass deck 103 stories in the air is making me nauseous.  Not into it.

Marte Cliff overall, I'm pretty much the same way, but I think I may be able to step out onto the box for a few seconds.  I have vertigo, but I try to push through it when I can.

Gene Mundt, Chicago-area Mortgage Lender - www.genemundt.com  and Tammie White yes indeed, Sears Tower is will always be!  :)

Jeff Dowler CRS ironically enough, I live within walking distance to Sears Tower and I office was across the street from the Hancock.

Evelyn Johnston sometimes I have to go to some extremely high floors in the course of a regular day.  I can never get enough of the views from high atop the city.

Chris Ann Cleland between work and recreation, it's hard to avoid heights. I have vertigo, but a mild case, (if there's a such thing).  I can tolerate some high spaces, at least for a while.

Tammy Lankford I'm with you there. Not sure but still willing to give it a shot.

We were up three a few years ago when my son graduated from Navy Boot Camp.  That tower is high, impressive. I will admit I did not go out on the "glass floored" or whatever areas...Way too high!

Gary L. Waters, Broker Owner, Waters Realty of Brevard, LLC first of all, thank you to your son for his service.  As for the Sears Tower, I may have to just push through my vertigo and try it one day.

Karen Winters, Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices KoenigRubloff I remember visiting Sears Tower twice - and both the times. it was enjoyable (and I think that was the tallest building in Chicago then.)

The only regret is, we had couple of pictures by professional that we forgot to take it out from the rental car....

Karen, The Sears Tower will always be the Sears Tower to me too! I remember the whole construction process because my dad worked on that building. The Sears Tower was the Pride of Chicago! I've been in it many times and have wonderful memories too.
