As we enter 2016, the question of “how are things going?” has been a favorite during the holiday season. We always seem to hear about other counties doing so much better in the real estate recovery than Pickens, so I decided to take a look at some surrounding counties as well as our year over year performance. On county comparisons, it’s obviously hard to compare units or dollars, so I used percentages.

I’m not going to draw any conclusions from these numbers for you other than to say it appears that Pickens County’s performance generally stacks up favorably with the other counties. Prices for both listing and selling have improved significantly, more houses are selling, and the time it takes to sell a home has come way down from the bottom of the great recession. Interest rates are still a great bargain.
