Dog-goned inspirational! Three legged dog in the neighborhood.

one leg is missing dog

three legged dog

With our large back yard we see lots of visiting animal and birds.  I have been accused of feeding the crows with left-overs with the explanation that "all God's critters gotta eat" and preferring feeding to wasting.  I can walk out back and hear the crows saying, "There's that old woman throwing away some food again.  Race you to it!"

But when we see this critter, a three-legged dog, we become quite quiet and say again and again that this animal is an inspiration.  He comes often and sniffs and parades in the yard getting around beautifully with his three good legs.  He does not seem to feel sorry for himself or beg for sympathy.  Even though it is against city rules for dogs to run free he does run free often and we wonder who he belongs to.  We'd never call the animal control and complain about him because he truly inspires!

I'd love to know his owner and story.

Truly inspirational and I too, wonder what the story is.  I especially like that you aren't calling the dog patrol because he is wandering around.

Had a st bernard get hit by a car and one leg had to come off if he was going to survive infection, loss of the limb because of the accident. He weighed 160 and was only 6 months old... and Dad said that is not fair to a dog that big to be three legged.

Just want to scoop the puppy up for a big hug! Glad you're sending good thoughts to the puppy.  They (as we) all have a story.

Hello Mrs. Duncan, Webb is my dog. I'm Ted and Carrie's daughter. I got him in May of 2007. On December the 9th of 2010 he got ran over by our neighbor, that was the day before my due date with my daughter, Leighton. I had Leighyon on December the 14th and Webb got his leg amputated on the 15th which was my birthday. (Busy couple of days haha). He got around just fine after he got out of the vet. Then he had another accident September of 2013 and got ran over AGAIN!! This time I got a call at work and I sped home, crying, to get him and take him to the vet to make sure he was going to be okay.... well after several x-rays Dr. Jordan found that he had broke his tail. We could have got that amputated too, but Dr. Jordan said as long as he didn't use the bathroom on it, it wouldn't hurt to leave it how it was. So a couple days later we got to bring him home. He could not walk for about 2 weeks and we had to put towels under his back legs, like on his tummy and help him walk. Every day he got a little stronger and eventually we had to let him do it on his own. It took about a month I think for him to walk normal again. Now he is a pretty 3 legged, broke tail Lab. That is Webb's story. :)
