6 House Hunting Tips To Help You Find the Perfect Candlewood Lake Home

Hunting for Candlewood Lake homes can be one of the most exciting parts of the home-buying process. This is especially true for first time buyers who have never owned a place of their own. However, your emotions can easily cloud your judgment. Keep in mind that you are making a big investment and you need to balance your enthusiasm with sound decision making. Here are some things that you should remember when searching for your potential home.

These 6 house hunting tips will give you the best selection of Candlewood Lake homes available.

1. Be clear with your priorities

Before taking a look at any lakefront properties in Candlewood Lake, make sure to write out everything you want in a home. Don’t forget to ask the opinion and input of other members of the household. Identify your must-haves so you won’t get easily swayed when all sorts of charming features come your way. Keep your list of priorities while looking for home to keep you on your track.

2. Take your time

Sometimes, the excitement of touring a homes for sale in Candlewood Lake for the first time can make it difficult for you to focus. Don’t rush things. Take your time and wander around while taking notes on your first impression of the home. Once the excitement has died down, go back to the beginning and start again. Try to approach the home as if you were an inspector rather than a potential buyer.

3. Ask permission to take photos or videos

Do not just rely on your memory. Prepare a backup by taking photos or a short video tour if possible. Make sure to ask the agent for permission before doing so. Clarify that it is for personal use and you won’t be posting it on any social media sites.

4. Know your budget

When touring homes, it is very important to consider your budget. This will save you time and make the house hunting process faster and easier. You need to shop within your budget, consider the amount of money you earn each month, after taxes and compare this to the amount you spend on your debts and expenses.

5. Take notes

Once you have determined your priorities, make sure to take down notes as you view homes so that you will have something to refer to at the end of the day. Some prospective buyers use a spreadsheet while other choose to take separate notes for each home. Your comments and notes should correspond with any photos you will take. Don’t forget to identify homes by their addresses so you can check them with the real estate agent

6. Organize your schedule

Since most people have tight schedules, the house hunting typically falls during weekends. However, this is also the time we usually set for activities like housework, hobbies, and catching up with family and friends. To avoid missed appointments or conflict, keep a calendar. This way you will not miss any inspection that you need to attend.

Great suggestion, that of taking photos while touring homes. I suggest that to my clients often, that way they have the info from "their" prospective, not just what we have on the MLS.

Keep up the great blogs, very enjoyable to read!
