People tend to see things differently. They read the same thing but yet their take on what is being said is completely different. Two people can look at a painting and both see completely different things. It takes me back to the phase perception is reality. They only thing that matters to an individual is how something makes them feel. Everyone has different life experiences that they draw on to understand and to explain what they see and feel.
I recently wrote a post explaining a situation and also put in some of my emotions. For the most part many understood what I was saying. Yet others have very strong opinions about implied parts of the post that were explained and had nothing to do with the post. But yet some couldn't help but judge. I am OK with that as this is an open forum and this is about sharing, good or bad, whether you want to hear it or not. That is the beauty of this great forum for our Realtor community.
But it made me think. Not everyone processes information the same. What is your buyer actually hearing you say? Or what is the seller actually hearing from your words. In the class room, I stop and make sure there are no questions in almost a condescending way because the information is important to new agents. I will, in the future explain until I am understood and be a better communicator to buyers and sellers of homes in St Cloud, Florida. The message lies in the hands of the orator to be understood by the recipient in any medium.
Are They Seeing What I Just Said?
