Don't Wait Until Spring To Hire A Contractor, Minot Real Estate 101

This is great advice from Bob.  Yes, this is true and the better contractors get booked up faster. And, also don't forget that it takes time to order materials.

Don't Wait Until Spring To Hire A Contractor,

Minot Real Estate 101

Minot construction, National Marketing Realtors

Often people make the mistake of waiting until spring to hire a contractor to build a garage, re-roof, build a deck, or even build an addition to their home.

If you wait until spring chances are that the contractors you call will already be booked up for most of the building season.

Don't take chances on hiring a builder by waiting until the last minute. Get references from friends and neighbors before hiring a contractor. If you are new to town ask your Realtor or a lender who they recommend for the job. Using the want ads, the yellow pages, or the Internet can all be a gamble. Realtors and lenders work with builders every day, we know who the good ones are.

One more tip, write down what you want, what you expect, and when you expect it. Chances are you can find a contract you can put your wishes in on line and present it to the contractor as a contract.

Great Advice ... the do book up and you may end up waiting weeks before they can start the work.  Great re-blog Debbie!

Great advice I agree.  Goes hand in hand with getting your home on the market now if you are wanting to move this spring and summer.  Whole process with best case scenario at least 60 days.  Mark

Thanks for the re-blog, Debbie.  Very true - spring is a busy time for many contractors.  If it is something that can be done in the winter - you may not have the wait time then.  We needed to re-roof one of our places - and got the contractor to come in two days.   He did a great job too.

Good morning Debbie. Very good choice for a re-blog. There is no such thing as the right time to hire a contractor, unless it is exterior work and you are fighting the weather.
